Each year, GLMA honors exemplary individuals, organizations, and/or publications for their significant contributions to improving the health and well-being of LGBT individuals or people living with HIV/AIDS, improving the climate for the LGBT health workforce, or contributing to gains made by the LGBT civil rights movement. GLMA honors these individuals, organizations, and/or publications with the GLMA LGBT Health Achievement Award, which is presented at the GLMA Achievement Awards Gala. GLMA's Achievement Awards Gala will be the capstone to the 35th Annual Conference on LGBT Health and will take place Saturday, September 16, 2017, at SkyPhiladelphia, 50th Floor. The VIP Reception will be held at 6:30PM and the Gala will begin at 7:30PM. Editors Lourdes Follins, PhD, LCSW and Jonathan Lassiter, PhD will be accepting the award. |  | Charles Silverstein, PhD – Dr. Silverstein contributed substantially to the removal of homosexuality as a mental disorder and the elimination of aversion therapy as a cure for homosexuality. He is also the author of 8 books for LGBT and professional audiences. |  | Deborah Bowen, PhD – Dr. Bowen is being honored for her dedicated service over 10 years as the Grants Review Committee Chair for the Lesbian Health Fund, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. |  | Lebanese Medical Association for Sexual Health (LebMASH) – LebMASH is being honored for breaking substantial barriers for and promoting LGBT health in Lebanon. LebMASH hosted the first ever LGBT Health Week and conference in Lebanon this past year. |  | Rachel Levine, MD – Dr. Levine is the highest ranking openly transgender government official in Pennsylvania as the sitting Physician General. She has worked to improves access to healthcare for LGBT people and often speaks about issues of diversity and access in healthcare. |  | Nix Sitkin – Nix is the recipient of the joint AMSA/GLMA LGBT Health Achievement Award, which was presented at the AMSA conference earlier this year.
