Vargas was previously the Deputy Director of the Education and Public Affairs Department for Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV. Before joining Lambda Legal in 2001, Vargas was a state legislative lawyer with the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, where he worked with state and local activists and elected officials on legislation to protect LGBT people. Previously, he was an assistant director with the American Bar Association in the Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities, and prior to that, he was a national student organizing director with the National Association for Public Interest Law. | | |  | Margaret Hughes Any Pronouns Programs & Communications Coordinator Extension 311 mhughes@glma.org Margaret Hughes first joined GLMA in June 2019 as Conference Associate. Margaret has organized on five campaigns for LGBTQ equality around the country, including serving as Regional Field Director on Massachusetts's Yes on 3 campaign, which successfully upheld statewide transgender nondiscrimination protections at the ballot for the first time. Prior to rejoining GLMA in July 2020, Margaret worked as a field organizer on Equality Virginia's 2019-2020 campaign to make Virginia the first state in the South to pass LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination protections. Margaret lives in Somerville, MA. | | | .jpg) | Kyla Mihalovits She/They/Her/Them Part-Time Associate kmihalovits@glma.org Kyla Mihalovits joined GLMA right before the 2021 Annual Conference on LGBTQ Health. Kyla worked as a volunteer on Equality Virginia's 2019-2020 campaign to make Virginia the first state in the South to pass LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination protections.
