On July 17th, the Transgender Law Centerand the National Center for Transgender Equality held a rally protesting the Trump Administration’s plan to weaken the Healthcare Rights Law that prohibits healthcare providers, institutions and insurance companies from discriminating against transgender people in healthcare.
More than a dozen speakers representing advocacy groups including the NCTE, Human Rights Campaign, GLMA, and Casa Ruby, voiced their opposition and commitment to fighting this proposed rule.
GLMA President Gal Mayer, MD, MS, spoke on behalf of GLMA, highlighting the consensus of healthcare professionals and associations who stand in opposition to any effort to weaken nondiscrimination protections for transgender and all LGB people. See the full video of his speech below:
